to start a project I really want to do. I have been doing so much research and it seams every site has a different way which makes me very confused. I am not scared to get dirty or pull out tools and get to work, I am just scared I will totally mess this up. Then I will be mad at myself :(
Meet my old bedroom suite...
Not very stylish in today's world....you know?
and it has some damage that needs to be repaired (scary)
and these ugly shells that need to go away!!!
I got this bedroom suite when I was 13, so it's going on 16 years old. It is kinda sentimental to me. I really want to get some extra use out of it, and the vision I have in my head is beautiful. However, we all know a vision and reality are two totally different things. My plan is to try the night stand first. It is the smallest piece and in my mind the easiest place to start.
There are some problems I think will make this complicated. There are a lot of details and rounded corners on this set. There are some places that need to be sanded well and filled in from years of abuse. (I was a teenager, I didn't understand the cost of furniture back in the day!!!) The good news is all the drawers and tracks are in good shape. I have one drawer that needs to be repaired but other than that everything is in smooth working order.
I think I have a plan (sort of)
I am not sure what color I want to paint it either... I am stuck between black or white. This is the bedroom I want to be black and white. I think it would be easier to do the furniture black and then do the walls a off white color. Then I like the look of a fresh white bedroom suite...hmmm It will probably be black, because you can't have white furniture and white walls...yuck!
This will also bring another project for me. Making a head board for the bed. I kinda sorta lost mine out of the back of a truck one time when I was moving...oops!
So there it is...something I want to start so bad, but just haven't had the courage to start yet. Maybe soon though :) Any comments with easy tips or how to's would be appreciated!
Probably should finish my closet first

- Sand down all the flat surfaces and try to get all the bad places out (sanding will also help the paint stick better)
- Take wood filler and fill in the uneven places. I am also going to try to use the wood filler to cover up the shell design because it is NOT cool. I will probably fill in the hardware holes too because I would like to put new hardware on the drawers.
- Then I guess I would prime it....
- Then attempt to paint it....
- Then seal it for extra protection
